What’s POV?
POV, or Point of View, is about where you see things from. It’s usually a term used in photography or videography to describe the view or angle from which the camera looks at the scene.
In our worlds, we look at EVERYTHING from a POV. Maybe it’s a momentary POV because we’re tired, hungover, feeling fat or frustrated or giddy with self love. It could also be a chronic way of looking at the world. Are you a pessimist or optimist? Depends on if you see the metaphorical glass as half empty or half full…
The circumstances of your life (the facts) plus your beliefs create your Point of View. It’s the lens that simplifies all those things you think into a cohesive story that you (like all good authors) are compelled to complete. You do the things that fit the next part of the story, that confirm the beliefs that led to the POV.
Can one write the story and still see it? Could you stop enough to ask and wonder at the particular thought bubble you latch onto? Why that one and not another? How different could it be if you simply chose another series of thoughts to write your stroy?
