Waves

On the inside of my wrist, I have a wave tattoo. To me, waves are symbolic of a simple truth of life: that there will always be ups and downs. All things ebb and flow. When I remember that truth, I find myself much more capable of riding out those lows and more grateful for the highs.

You can’t have happiness without growth and growth comes from hard things. But here’s the best part, we have some say in what are the things that are hard. Would you rather have the pain of gaining muscle by lifting weights or the pain from a weak body? You’re going to have pain, but it seems like there is some version of good pain and then there’s just plain old suffering. It’s about how you look (your PoV) at the hard parts of life that determine your experience.

When you accept- truly believe- that life is waves, it’s incredibly liberating. We don’t need to be afraid of the harder aspects of life. We learn to anticipate and expect them. With this foresight comes power.
